Didn't Find the Wedding Band, but Got My First Taste of Old Silver

I obtained permission to detect an 1850's farmhouse, because the owner had lost his gold wedding band in the middle of the cornfield.

I searched for a good 2-3 hours, but unfortunately did not detect the ring.

I then moved on to the front yard and after about a half-hour in, I heard a good signal about five and a half to six inches deep.

It was then that I dug it...

An 1883 seated dime.

This was my first (and only) taste of finding "old" (1800's) silver.

But boy, did it whet my appetite!  Ever since this find, I haven't stopped looking for more.

Is there anything you've found that inspired you to seek to find more?  Tell me all about it in the comments section.

Thanks for reading and keep on diggin'.
