I truly believe that some things are meant to be.
I got permission from a friend to detect the yard of one of his relatives.
I was having a fun hunt. I found a few wheat pennies, a buffalo nickel, an old lipstick, a lead soldier, and half of a toy gun. Nothin' fancy, but I was enjoying myself.
I had probably been there for ninety minutes or so, when the neighbor came by and started chatting. He asked what I found and I showed him, and then I asked if I could take a look in his yard.
He said, "I was waiting for you to ask. Go ahead. Knock yourself out."
Two steps into his yard, I swung my coil and got a really strong signal.
I pulled out a clad quarter.
But a few minutes later, about four-and-a-half-or-five-inches (4 1/2 - 5") underground, there it was...
An 1837 Mexican 8 reale.
This is the video I took when I found it. (Can you tell I was excited? Hahaha!)
Freshly dug
Cleaned up
6 months later and I'm still amazed that I found that coin. It has taken me years to find a coin like this. It is definitely the coolest coin I've ever dug and what I consider to be a once in a lifetime find.
