Preserving the Past (literally)

Warning:  the following find may be disturbing to some readers.

I'm not joking.

Here's the story: I was hunting a late 1700's site in Bucks County, and I happened to take a peek inside a big barn.  This barn had the old air slits cut into the walls (so that the hay didn't dry out too much) which may be how this happened...

I found the petrified carcass of a cat.

It looks like he went to sleep and is still resting.

LOL!  This really happened.

I went to the homeowner to tell him about my discovery, but he already knew...  In fact, he said he bought the property over 16 years ago and has never disturbed the sleeping kitty.  He said he thought it should be peacefully preserved!

I've heard of preserving the past, but this was a first for me.

Creepy or cool?  Tell me in the comments box.

Thanks for reading and keep on diggin'.
